PAIR
TRAWLS
A trawl of this type is towed by
two fishing boats, without need for otter
boards to open the net. The net mouth will
depend on the distance between the two boats
and on the amount of warp paid out.
The net design must be such that the trawlers
can establish a balance between the horizontal
and vertical opening - this is achieved
by floats and weights - and the speed required
at all time.
There exist various types of fishing net
for pair trawling, as explained below.

SINGLE
TRAWLS
Single-boat trawling accounts for
and includes most of the fishing businesses
in the world. But, like pair trawling, single
trawling involves different types of gear
according to the target species sought in
the fishery. They can be broadly classified
in 3 or 4 trawl categories.
